Fishing for a Cure
Fishing for a Cure
Story
In 2017 in excess of 3,100 Australians are estimated to be diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. Only 8% of Pancreatic Cancer patients survive more than five years and the median survival rate is between three and six months.
I am truly blessed to be supported by family, friends and colleagues over the last almost six years.............how lucky am I
Most people diagnosed are lucky to see 12months of life. The last 12 months of my life have been challenging physically, but emotionally I have been blessed. I have been here to see my youngest child, engaged, married and have their first child. And to share these happy occassions with all of my family. So I will keep supporting pancreatic cancer research in the hope that there will be a cure. And I hope you will support my philosophy....Never Give Up Hope!
The Vision of the Foundation is - "To break through 40 years of no progress by doubling the number of people who survive Pancreatic Cancer by 2020"
I am aiming to raise money to assist the Avner Foundation in achieving this vision and I welcome any contribution, great or small, that you can make!
Activity
PanKind Australian Pancreatic Cancer Foundation Limited
Pankind’s mission is to triple the pancreatic cancer survival rate by 2030 and significantly improve the quality of life for those impacted by the disease.
Together with our partners and community, we’re confronting pancreatic cancer head-on. Making progress a reality through groundbreaking research, compassionate support, and tireless advocacy. Because when the stakes are this high, action isn’t just important—it’s essential and urgent.
Pancreatic cancer is the toughest common cancer, and for too long, progress has lagged behind. Survival rates have barely improved in decades, leaving people diagnosed feeling overwhelmed and uncertain. We’re determined to change this. We are the only Australian organisation solely dedicated to improving outcomes for those affected by pancreatic cancer.
